Grade Level: Grade 2
Duration: 7 Weeks
Focus: Preparing for advanced math concepts
Module 3: Foundations of Multiplication, Fractions & Measurement introduces Grade 2 students to important mathematical concepts that prepare them for more advanced learning in Grade 3. Students explore equal groups, repeated addition, arrays, fractions, measurement, and time through practical, real-world experiences.
Learners will discover that multiplication begins with recognizing equal groups and repeated addition. They will use arrays and skip counting to build a strong conceptual understanding before learning multiplication facts in later grades.
Students will also develop an understanding of fractions by partitioning shapes into equal parts and identifying halves, thirds, and fourths. In addition, they will strengthen their measurement skills by measuring and comparing lengths and learn to read analog clocks to the nearest five minutes.
Through hands-on investigations, visual models, and real-world problem-solving, students will build mathematical reasoning, accuracy, and confidence.
