Grade Level: Grade 2
Duration: 5 Weeks
Focus: Applying operations to real situations
Module 2: Addition, Subtraction & Problem Solving helps Grade 2 students strengthen their ability to apply addition and subtraction skills to meaningful situations. This module moves beyond computation practice and focuses on choosing strategies, understanding problem structures, and explaining mathematical thinking.
Students will develop fact fluency through efficient strategies, explore mental math techniques, and learn how to interpret different types of word problems. They will practice identifying unknown information, solving multi-step problems, estimating answers, and checking whether solutions are reasonable.
Through models, drawings, equations, and real-world examples, students will become more confident problem solvers who can explain not only what answer they found but also how they found it.
