Focus: Understanding geometric movement and similarity
Module 2: Transformations & Congruence develops students’ understanding of geometric movement, symmetry, and relationships between figures. Students explore how shapes can be moved, reflected, rotated, and resized while maintaining or changing specific geometric properties.
Throughout the module, students investigate transformations on the coordinate plane, including translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. Students learn how transformations create relationships between original figures and their images, leading to deeper understanding of congruence, similarity, and geometric reasoning.
By the end of this module, students will be able to describe transformations, identify congruent figures, apply transformation rules, and support geometric conclusions using logical arguments and evidence.
