Grade Level: Grade 9
Duration: 5 Weeks
Focus:
Understanding how figures move and change on a coordinate plane. Students develop spatial reasoning by applying transformation rules, analyzing changes in position and size, and using scale relationships to solve geometric problems.
Transformations & Geometric Movement introduces students to the ways geometric figures move, change position, and change size on the coordinate plane. Students explore translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations while developing an understanding of transformation rules, scale factors, and geometric relationships.
Throughout the module, students use coordinate models and visual representations to describe movement and analyze how transformations affect figures. These concepts provide the foundation for understanding congruence, similarity, symmetry, and geometric modeling.
