Grade Level: Grade 9
Duration: 5 Weeks
Focus:
Understanding geometric relationships using the coordinate plane. Students develop coordinate reasoning skills by analyzing points, lines, measurements, and linear relationships while applying algebraic methods to solve geometric problems.
Coordinate Geometry Foundations introduces students to the connection between algebra and geometry through the coordinate plane. Students learn how points, lines, and geometric figures can be represented using coordinates and analyzed using mathematical formulas.
Throughout the module, students develop skills in plotting points, calculating distance and midpoint, understanding slope, graphing lines, and applying coordinate reasoning to geometric problems. These foundational concepts prepare students for transformations, congruence, similarity, proofs, and advanced analytic geometry.
