Grade Level: Grade 8
Duration: 7 Weeks
Focus: Understanding linear equations and graphs
Module 3: Linear Relationships & Slope introduces students to one of the most important concepts in algebra—the study of linear relationships. Students investigate how variables change together, learn how slope describes the rate of change, and represent linear relationships using tables, graphs, equations, and real-world situations.
Throughout the module, students calculate and interpret slope, write and graph linear equations, compare different linear models, and distinguish between proportional and non-proportional relationships. By connecting multiple representations of linear functions, students develop the analytical skills needed to model and solve real-world problems.
By the end of this module, students will confidently analyze linear relationships, calculate slope, graph equations, and use algebra to describe patterns and solve authentic mathematical situations.
