Module 2: Expressions, Equations & Functions strengthens students’ algebraic thinking by building on their understanding of expressions and equations while introducing the foundational concept of functions. Students learn how variables represent unknown quantities, how equations model real-world situations, and how functions describe relationships between inputs and outputs.

Throughout the module, students simplify algebraic expressions, apply the properties of operations, solve one-step and multi-step equations, and work with equations containing variables on both sides. Students also explore functions through tables, equations, graphs, and real-world situations, developing the skills needed for Algebra I and higher-level mathematics.

By the end of this module, students will confidently simplify expressions, solve increasingly complex equations, recognize functions, and represent mathematical relationships using multiple forms.
