Module 2: Rational Numbers & Numerical Operations expands students’ understanding of the number system by developing fluency with positive and negative rational numbers. Students learn how to represent, compare, and perform operations with integers, fractions, and decimals while applying mathematical reasoning to solve increasingly complex problems.

Throughout the module, students explore rational numbers on number lines, compare values, perform all four operations, and apply the order of operations to numerical expressions. Through real-world applications involving finance, temperature, elevation, and data, students strengthen their ability to analyze situations, select efficient strategies, and justify their solutions.

By the end of this module, students will confidently perform operations with rational numbers and apply these skills to solve multi-step mathematical and real-world problems.
