Grade Level: Grade 6
Duration: 6 Weeks
Focus: Connecting geometry to real-world measurement
Module 4: Geometry & Measurement develops students’ understanding of how geometry connects to real-world measurement and problem solving. Students explore two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures while learning how mathematical formulas can be used to describe and analyze objects in the world around them.
Throughout the module, students review coordinate planes, calculate distances, find the area of triangles and quadrilaterals, explore surface area and volume, and investigate how three-dimensional figures can be represented using nets. Students also study angle relationships and apply geometric reasoning to solve practical problems.
By the end of this module, students will be able to use formulas, models, and geometric reasoning to solve measurement problems involving area, surface area, volume, and spatial relationships.
