Grade Level: Grade 6
Duration: 7 Weeks
Focus: Building foundations for algebra
Module 3: Expressions, Equations & Algebraic Thinking introduces students to the language and structure of algebra. Students begin developing the skills needed to represent unknown values, analyze mathematical relationships, and solve problems using symbols, expressions, and equations.
Throughout the module, students learn how variables represent unknown quantities, how real-world situations can be translated into mathematical expressions, and how expressions can be evaluated using the order of operations. Students explore equivalent expressions, understand the meaning of equations, solve one-step equations, and represent inequalities on number lines.
By the end of this module, students will be able to think algebraically, communicate mathematical relationships, and apply foundational algebra skills to real-world problem solving.
