Mathematical Modeling & Applications
Grade Level: Grade 12
Duration: 7 Weeks
Focus: Applying mathematics to real-world challenges
Module 5: Mathematical Modeling & Applications develops students’ ability to use mathematics as a tool for solving authentic problems. Students learn how mathematical models represent relationships, predict outcomes, and support decision-making in real-world situations.
Throughout the module, students apply linear, quadratic, and exponential models to analyze patterns and make predictions. They explore optimization strategies, geometry applications, personal finance mathematics, and career-based problem solving. Students complete a research project that requires them to collect information, develop a mathematical approach, analyze results, and communicate their conclusions.
By the end of this module, students will be able to build mathematical models, solve authentic problems, apply mathematics to careers and daily life, and communicate mathematical reasoning effectively.
