Module Title: Advanced Functions & Modeling
Grade Level: Grade 12
Duration: 5 Weeks
Focus: Analyzing and applying advanced functions
Module 1: Advanced Functions & Modeling introduces students to the foundational concepts of precalculus by developing their ability to analyze, interpret, and apply advanced functions. Students investigate how functions represent relationships between quantities and how different representations reveal patterns, behaviors, and real-world applications.
Throughout the module, students review function transformations, domain and range, and function behavior before extending their understanding to composite and inverse functions. Students analyze polynomial and rational functions and develop skills for creating mathematical models that represent real-world situations.
By the end of this module, students will be able to analyze complex functions, interpret graphs and equations, build mathematical models, and apply functions to real-world situations in preparation for college-level mathematics.
