Grade Level: Grade 10
Duration: 7 Weeks
Focus: Applying geometry to measurement
Module 5: Area, Volume & Three-Dimensional Geometry develops students’ ability to apply geometric concepts to measurement, modeling, and real-world problem solving. Students explore how two-dimensional figures and three-dimensional solids can be analyzed using formulas, spatial reasoning, and mathematical models.
Throughout the module, students calculate area, surface area, and volume for a variety of geometric figures, including prisms, cylinders, pyramids, and cones. Students investigate how cross-sections reveal the structure of solids and how coordinate geometry can be used to describe and analyze geometric relationships.
By the end of this module, students will be able to calculate measurements of geometric figures, analyze three-dimensional objects, create geometric models, and solve real-world measurement problems.
