Focus: Exploring relationships within triangles
Module 3: Similarity, Triangles & Trigonometry Foundations develops students’ understanding of proportional relationships, triangle properties, and the mathematical connections that form the foundation of trigonometry. Students explore how figures can have the same shape but different sizes and how these relationships can be used to solve geometric problems.
Throughout the module, students investigate similarity transformations, triangle similarity theorems, proportional relationships, and right triangle relationships. Students apply the Pythagorean Theorem and are introduced to trigonometric ratios, including sine, cosine, and tangent, as tools for analyzing and solving problems involving right triangles.
By the end of this module, students will be able to solve similarity problems, apply triangle relationships, use the Pythagorean Theorem, and apply introductory trigonometric reasoning to real-world situations.
