Grade Level: Grade 6
Duration: 7 Weeks
Focus: Understanding and interpreting data
Module 5: Statistics & Data Analysis develops students’ ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret information. Students learn how data can be used to answer questions, identify patterns, make comparisons, and support decisions in real-world situations.
Throughout the module, students explore statistical questions, data collection methods, and ways to represent information visually. Students calculate measures of center, including mean, median, and mode, and analyze the spread of data using range. They interpret dot plots, histograms, and box plots to understand distributions and compare data sets.
Students also explore foundational probability concepts and learn how data can be used to make predictions. By the end of the module, students will be able to analyze data, communicate findings, and apply statistical reasoning to real-world problems.
