Module 1: Place Value, Decimals & Operations develops students’ advanced understanding of numbers by expanding their knowledge of whole numbers, place value relationships, and decimal operations. Students explore numbers beyond the millions and build confidence working with large values and decimal amounts.

Throughout the module, students analyze the relationship between place values, compare and order whole numbers and decimals, round numbers accurately, and solve problems involving decimal addition and subtraction. Students apply these skills to real-world situations involving money, measurement, and data.

By the end of this module, students will have a strong foundation in number sense and computation skills necessary for success in Grade 5 mathematics.
