Module 1: Place Value, Addition & Subtraction establishes a strong foundation in Grade 4 mathematics by developing students’ understanding of large numbers, place value relationships, and multi-digit computation. Students extend their number sense to numbers up to 1,000,000 and learn how digits represent different values depending on their position.

Throughout the module, students explore strategies for comparing, ordering, rounding, adding, and subtracting multi-digit numbers. They use estimation to predict reasonable answers and develop the ability to check whether solutions make sense.

By connecting computation skills to real-world situations, students build accuracy, flexibility, and confidence in solving mathematical problems.
