Grade Level: Grade 3
Duration: 5 Weeks
Focus: Building multiplication and division understanding
Module 2: Multiplication & Division Foundations introduces Grade 3 students to the fundamental concepts of multiplication and division. Students explore how equal groups, arrays, repeated addition, sharing, and grouping provide the foundation for understanding these operations. They discover the relationship between multiplication and division and learn how the two operations work together to solve mathematical problems.
Throughout the module, students develop multiplication fact fluency using efficient strategies and investigate multiplication properties that simplify computation. They also learn to solve division problems by sharing objects equally and grouping items into equal sets. By working with fact families, students strengthen their understanding of inverse operations and build flexible problem-solving skills.
Using models, equations, diagrams, and real-world situations, students develop confidence in applying multiplication and division to everyday mathematical challenges.
