G1-MATH-M2 - Addition and Subtraction Foundations

Module 2: Addition & Subtraction Foundations develops students’ computation skills by strengthening their understanding of addition and subtraction concepts. In this module, Grade 1 learners explore how numbers change when quantities are joined together or separated.

Students will learn that addition represents combining groups, while subtraction represents taking away or finding differences. They will use a variety of strategies, including drawings, number models, equations, and objects, to solve problems and explain their mathematical thinking.

Through guided practice and real-world examples, students will build fluency with addition and subtraction within 20 while developing confidence in selecting strategies and solving problems independently.
