Module 1: Number Sense & Place Value introduces Grade 1 students to the foundation of mathematical thinking by helping them understand how numbers are organized, represented, and compared. Students will develop strong number sense by exploring numbers up to 120, place value relationships, and different ways numbers can be built and represented.
Through this module, learners will discover that numbers have meaning beyond counting. They will explore how ones and tens work together, how numbers can be compared and ordered, and how patterns help us understand number relationships.
Students will practice using number lines, skip counting, and multiple representations of numbers to strengthen their flexibility and confidence with mathematics. These skills provide the foundation for future learning in addition, subtraction, measurement, and problem-solving.
